New Hampshire Suspends Vehicle Inspection Program Amid Legal Dispute
New Hampshire’s vehicle inspection program has been suspended until further notice, according to the state Attorney General’s Office.
The suspension follows a lawsuit filed by Gordon-Darby, the company previously contracted to manage the program. The company claims the state ended the inspection system without securing a required waiver under the federal Clean Air Act. New Hampshire has since applied for that waiver, but it remains pending.
State officials say inspection stations are no longer authorized to issue inspection stickers, and drivers will not be required to obtain one at this time.
New Hampshire is now appealing the court ruling, while state agencies explore options to restart the program without an approved vendor.
