News Update:

Mistaken Emergency Alert Sent Countywide During Nashua Gas Incident

Emergency officials are reviewing a countywide alert that was mistakenly sent during a gas leak and explosion in Nashua on Monday.

At 2:39 p.m., phones across Hillsborough County — and even parts of Massachusetts — sounded an emergency warning urging people near the scene to extinguish flames and prepare to evacuate. The alert was intended only for Nashua.

City officials say Nashua has the ability to target alerts within city limits, but they are still investigating why this message went out to the entire county. Reports came in from Concord, Jaffrey, Litchfield, and as far south as Townsend, Massachusetts.

Nashua’s emergency management director said the alert was issued due to the seriousness of the incident and heavy call volume, adding that officials are now working with the state to prevent a repeat.

Traffic Update:

Good morning, here’s a look at your commute.

Traffic is moving steadily across southern New Hampshire this morning. Interstate 93 is in good shape through Salem, Manchester, and Concord, with no major slowdowns reported. Route 101 is flowing well east and west through Bedford and Exeter. In Nashua and Merrimack, expect typical volume on local roads but no significant delays. Southbound traffic toward the Massachusetts border is moving smoothly, including I-495 and I-95 near Newburyport and Amesbury. Overall, it’s a pretty quiet start to the drive — just allow a few extra minutes as volume builds closer to the morning rush.
