Nashua Gas Explosion Response Praised Despite Firefighter Injuries

Nashua’s fire chief is calling Monday’s response to a gas leak, explosion, and fire a success, after everyone inside the Greater Nashua Mental Health building evacuated safely. About 60 people were inside when gas was smelled and a hissing sound was reported. The building later exploded and burned, but no civilians were hurt. Three firefighters were injured outside the building; their injuries are serious but not life-threatening. Officials say emergency alerts and evacuations helped prevent loss of life, and the cause remains under investigation.
