The Mount Washington Observatory has received a $50,000 grant through Citizens Bank’s Champions in Action program to expand STEM education.
The funding will support a new broadcast studio in North Conway Village, giving students hands-on experience forecasting some of the world’s harshest weather.
The observatory is launching a broadcast meteorology internship, emphasizing the importance of communicating weather data, according to education director Brian Fitzgerald.
The grant also supports K–12 and high school programs, with the studio expected to be completed within a year.
