NH Liquor Outlet’s Gen-Z Style Ad Goes Viral

A promotional video from the New Hampshire Liquor & Wine Outlet has gone viral across Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, racking up more than one million views and reaching nine times the audience the account typically sees.

In the ad, New Hampshire Liquor Commission Director of Marketing, Merchandising, and Warehousing Mark Roy promotes the outlet’s liquor and wine selections using the language of Gen-Z.

“To be honest, I didn’t get it,” Roy admitted.

A proud member of Generation X, Roy delivers the pitch with popular online phrases like “hot girl summer” and “very demure,” expressions commonly seen on social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“Kind of the mix of the over-the-top Gen-Z lingo script and Mark’s delivery as someone who isn’t in that demographic was really fantastic,” said Hailey McCaffrey of wedu.

The performance was so convincing that some commenters online even wondered if the video had been created with artificial intelligence.

“I can conclusively tell you that I am not AI generated,” Roy said.
