Community Connections: VetFest Connects Thousands of New England Veterans With Resources and Support

DEERFIELD, N.H. — New England’s largest veterans resource event returned to the Deerfield Fairgrounds, bringing thousands of veterans and their families together with organizations offering services and support to the military community.

Organizers said approximately 5,000 people attended VetFest, where representatives from roughly 100 organizations were on hand to connect veterans directly with available programs and resources.

The family-friendly event featured more than veteran services. Saturday’s activities included a car show, petting zoo and free haircuts for veterans, creating an atmosphere where military families could access important resources while enjoying the day together.

At the center of the event was a shared mission: ensuring veterans know they do not have to face challenges alone.

Walking With Honor served as VetFest’s spotlight nonprofit this year. Founder Faith Harris, an Air Force veteran, said events like VetFest give former service members an opportunity to learn about available resources and make direct connections with organizations that can help.

That spirit of cooperation extends beyond VetFest. Walking With Honor also partners with Annie’s Angels Memorial Fund to help veterans participating in its service program.

Susan Young, representing Annie’s Angels Memorial Fund, said the organization helps cover shelter fees for animals entering Walking With Honor’s program, helping connect veterans with pets that can provide companionship and support.

By bringing veterans, families and service organizations together in one location, VetFest aims to make resources easier to find while strengthening connections throughout New England’s veteran community.
